How to Germinate Dianthus from Seed!
Dianthus can be picky but very rewarding
Sow your seeds on a good draing compost they hate to stay wet
make sure you dont cover them with soil as the need light to germinate
i recomend sowing them in cells but you can sow them in any pot
Start them off in Early spring indoors if you are growing them from seeds
Now you need to create a humid atmosphere with clingfilm,if using a pot just pull it tight over the top .
Within a few hours you should see condensation if you dont the cling film isnt tight enough or air is getting in.
With cells you do the same thing but will need to cover the seeds and the base to create the humid enviroment
Place in a warm sunny spot germination can take a few days to 3 weeks
The post should self water if the cling film is tight enough if it looks dry stand your post or cells in water and let it soak from the base.
But dont keep these seeds stood in water remove the pot as soon as its had enough
When big enough seperate the seedlings out into pots or cells they can be slowly exposed to the outside weather to harden off
Start by exposing them outside for just a few hours if in a colder climate
This Dianthus Species will flower the same year of sown early enough in the year
